How To Dress…When you are Curvy and/or Knock Kneed

Let’s start with: How do you know if you are knock kneed? Here is a picture and the definition:

knock knees /ˈnäk ˌnēz/noun

  1. a condition in which the legs curve inward so that the feet are apart when the knees are touching.

How do you know if you are considered curvy? Well for this conversation if your waist is smaller than your hip measurement by at least 5 inches or more and you have thick thighs I would say you can add yourself to the curvy category. We added curvy because you can be extremely slim and still be knock kneed or you can be curvy and not be knock kneed but your thigh may still rub together from time to time when you walk.

So more likely than not if you dress a certain way you could really bring more attention to the fact that you are knock-kneed or that your thighs rub then to the amazing outfit you are wearing. And since this seems to be a subject people are scared to talk about, I am just going to address the elephant in the room with my suggestions on how to dress and look Fantastic when you are knock-kneed and/or curvy…(Yes, I am very much knock-kneed).

  1. PANTS or Dresses

    1. So I’ll be honest and say I love a good skinny jean but to be honest this looks good when worn with over the knee or thigh high boots for fall/winter. In the summer it looks good when worn with something that accentuates the upper half of your body like a fitted or stand out top. It is also best with a long or dress style top.

    2. Otherwise I would say go with a boot cut or wide leg jean

  2. DRESSES This really is my go to so most of the tips will be here.

    1. LENGTH MATTERS Opt for something knee length or longer. Midi- length is my favorite.

    2. FITTED LOOKS If doing a fitted style dress or skirt I would stick with knee length. If you go longer you will look a bit like a mermaid. If you go shorter you will see the knock knee/thigh rubbing situation. At knee length you will still show off your great curves.

    3. STYLE If you like splits they will look great on you as long as you make sure the split is on the side or in the back. You don’t want to do front splits

    4. ELEVATE I realize wearing high heels will not be for everyone but I promise you if you wear high heels it will be like you knock knee look has disappeared.

    5. THE FIT Ideally you will want to wear things that fit (or are loose) on top and are looser at and below the knee

    6. LAYERS So layers will just add value to your look anyway but they will also show off your style more than the way you walk.

These are my top style tips to keep you looking Ah-Mazing. Let me know if you try any of these tips out or if you are already one step ahead of the game.

XOXO
